Travel tips
Getting there: the mountain rises on the northern edge of Guangzhou, and the metro and city buses reach several entrances at its foot, from which you walk or take a park shuttle up. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport lies to the north.
Entrances: the south, west and north gates and several others on the east side are in common use. The routes up differ, so choose your entrance for going up and for coming down before setting out.
Main sights: the Summit Park has the Pearl Tower, and Moxing Ridge is the highest point, about 382 m. Halfway up are Jiulong Spring and Nengren Temple, and at the foot is Yuntai Garden.
Going up: you can walk the mountain roads, and above the middle slope there are cable cars and park buses. Walking up to Moxing Ridge takes two to three hours.
Time: half a day is enough for the summit park and Moxing Ridge; with the sights on the lower slopes, allow a full day.
Season: autumn and winter are dry and pleasant for climbing. Summer is hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so start early.
Where to stay: the mountain is at the edge of the city and hotels are plentiful. Most visitors stay in town and make a day trip.
Caution: paths are crowded at weekends and on holidays. Go down slowly when the paths are wet.
