About
Hukou (“Kettle Spout”) Waterfall lies in the Jin–Shaan gorge of the middle Yellow River, about 25 km south-west of Ji County, Shanxi, on the border with Yichuan County, Shaanxi. About 30 m wide and 50 m deep, it is the only great waterfall on the Yellow River.
Stamps and banknotes
In 2002 China Post issued a “Hukou Waterfall” stamp.

The back of the 50-yuan note of the fourth series of renminbi (1988) shows Hukou.

News
After prolonged snow and cold, 45 km of the Yellow River in Shaanxi froze over in early 2008; the ice run, which usually ends by late January, was still developing in late February, with ice density up to 80% in thawing stretches, rare in many years.
