    Large cave complex on the cliffs on both sides of the Yi River, cut mainly from the Northern Wei to the Northern Song, with over 2,100 caves and niches and more than 100,000 statues; the "Twenty Longmen Inscriptions" are a masterpiece of Wei stele calligraphy. Inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site in 2000.

    Founded in the 11th year of the Yongping reign of the Eastern Han; said to be the first temple built after Buddhism entered China, and called the "ancestral court" and "source of Buddhism" of Chinese Buddhism.
