About
The Badaling–Ming Tombs Scenic Area, north-west of central Beijing, was named in the first batch of national scenic areas by the State Council in 1982. It has two parts, about 20 km apart:
Badaling: the Great Wall at Badaling in Yanqing District and Juyongguan Pass in Changping District, the best-known stretch of the Great Wall.
Ming Tombs: the tombs of thirteen Ming emperors below Tianshou Mountain in northern Changping, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2003 as part of “Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties”.
