About
Shenyang, capital of Liaoning and a sub-provincial city, is the industrial heart and a historic city of the north-east: nine districts, one county-level city and three counties, about 13,000 km² with an urban area of 3,495 km², population 7.4 million, 5.536 million in the city. One of the largest cities north of the Great Wall, it has long held economic and strategic importance; the Shenyang military region ranks second among China’s seven.
