About
The Huashan Mystery Caves–Jian River scenic area lies along the Xin’an River from Huangdun in Tunxi District, Huangshan City, to Xiongcun in She County, 80.6 km². The Xin’an, upper reaches of the Qiantang, was anciently called the Jian between Tunxi and Pukou. Its banks are beautiful and rich in Huizhou cultural sites, and the Huashan caves beside it are a group of man-made rock-cut chambers of unknown date, unrecorded in any text, remarkable in China for their scale and their mysteries.
