About

Weishan (沩山风景名胜区) is a national park of China (eighth batch, designated by the State Council in 2012), located in Weishan Township, Ningxiang, Changsha, Hunan.

The scenic area lies in western Ningxiang, Changsha, at the junction with Taojiang and Anhua, across Weishan, Huangcai, Xiangzikou and Shatian, with a planned area of about 190 sq km.

It has four sub-areas: Qianfodong, Sanguanmen, Miyin Temple, and Tanheli with Qingyang Lake. Miyin Temple was founded in 807 by the monk Lingyou and is the ancestral temple of the Guiyang school of Chan; the Tang emperor Xuanzong granted its name at the request of Pei Xiu. The Tanheli site at Huangcai is a city of the late Shang and early Zhou; the nearby Yueshanpu find produced the famous Four-Ram bronze zun.
