About

Langshan, in Xinning County in south-west Hunan, is a large Danxia landform area of 110 km² in six parts: Zixiadong, the Fuyi River, Chilli Peak, Tianyixiang, the Natural Bridge and Bajiaozhai.

Its character is mountains, water, forest and caves. The main sights are the natural bridge, said to be the largest in Asia, General Rock on the Fuyi River, the “whales in the sea” of Bajiaozhai, Camel Peak and Chilli Peak. The climate is mild, averaging about 16 °C.

News

In November 2007 it was reported that the Danxia landform areas of Chishui (Guizhou), Langshan and Wanfoshan (Hunan), Mount Danxia (Guangdong), Jinhu (Fujian), Mount Longhu and Guifeng (Jiangxi) and Fangyan and Mount Jianglang (Zhejiang) would join in a combined nomination of China Danxia for World Heritage status.
