About

Jinhu (“Golden Lake”) lies in Taining County in north-west Fujian and is named for the gold once mined there. The area covers 137 km², 76 km² of it water, with Danxia hills; its sights include Water and Sky in One Line, Asking the Way in the Secluded Valley, the Winding Cloud Path, the Lone Pillar Temple, the Golden Cat Bathing in Sunlight, the Tiger’s Fort, the Mandarin Ducks, the Minister’s Mansion and the hanging waterfall.

Primeval vegetation survives, with rare animals such as the South China tiger and clouded leopard.

In 2007 China Post issued “Jinhu”, two stamps.

News

In November 2007 it was reported that the Danxia landform areas of Chishui (Guizhou), Langshan and Wanfoshan (Hunan), Mount Danxia (Guangdong), Jinhu (Fujian), Mount Longhu and Guifeng (Jiangxi) and Fangyan and Mount Jianglang (Zhejiang) would join in a combined nomination of China Danxia for World Heritage status.
