Suzhou (35)
- Luzhi Ancient Town 甪直古镇An ancient town in Suzhou's Wuzhong District, formerly called Fuli, with Ming-Qing style houses preserved; its Baosheng Temple holds Tang-dynasty arhat statues by Yang Huizhi, and dozens of Song and Ming bridges earn it the nickname "museum of old bridges". The writer Ye Shengtao regarded it as his second home.
- Panmen 盘门A combined land-and-water gate in Suzhou's southern city wall, the only completely preserved ancient gate of its kind in China; one of the eight gates of Helü City in the Spring and Autumn period, the present structure dates from 1351 and faces the Grand Canal.
- Suzhou Xishan 苏州西山An island in Taihu Lake, formally Dongting West Hill and anciently Baoshan; at 79.8 sq km it is China's largest lake island, linked to the mainland by the Taihu Bridge. Linwu Cave on its Shigong Hill is the ninth of Taoism's "Ten Grotto-Heavens".
- Mudu Ancient Town 木渎古镇An old town in western Wuzhong District, Suzhou, between the city and Taihu Lake; its name recalls the timber that clogged the river when the King of Wu built Gusu Terrace in the Spring and Autumn period, and the town was established in the Northern Song.
- Lion Grove Garden 狮子林One of Suzhou's four great gardens, adjacent to the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Taiping Loyal King's Mansion; covering 1.1 ha, it is a national key cultural relic and part of the Classical Gardens of Suzhou World Heritage site.
- Master of the Nets Garden 网师园A classical Suzhou garden begun in the Southern Song as a small private garden called "Fisherman's Retreat", renamed in the Qianlong era of the Qing and inscribed as a World Heritage site in 1997.
- Hanshan Temple 寒山寺A Buddhist temple at Fengqiao outside Suzhou's Changmen Gate, facing west with its entrance on the old canal.
- Seven-Li Shantang Street 七里山塘A pedestrian street in Suzhou's Gusu District with nearly 1,200 years of history, officially Shantang Street, running 3,829.6 m from the foot of Tiger Hill in the west to Duseng Bridge on the old canal outside Changmen Gate.
- Pingjiang Historic District 平江历史街区A historic district in northeast Suzhou centered on Pingjiang Road and Pingjiang River, about 116.5 ha, preserving an 800-year-old layout of parallel streets and canals; it contains the World Heritage Couple's Garden and was inscribed as part of the Grand Canal World Heritage site in 2014.
- Tianpingshan 天平山A 201 m hill southwest of Suzhou, anciently called White Cloud Hill, famed for its "three wonders" of strange rocks, clear springs and red maples; it is the burial place of Fan Zhongyan's ancestors and has a memorial hall to him.
- Shangfangshan National Forest Park 上方山国家森林公园A national forest park on Shihu Lake in southern Suzhou, known for Wu-Yue relics and Jiangnan water-town scenery, with over twenty sights including Lengjia Pagoda, Baijiao Terrace, Yuegong Well and ancient Wu-Yue city walls.
- Qiandeng Ancient Town 千灯古镇An old town south of Kunshan and a national historic and cultural town; Yanfu Temple and Qinfeng Pagoda were built in 504, making it a Buddhist center, and a market town grew up after the Song court moved south.
- Lili Ancient Town 黎里古镇A well-preserved Jiangnan water town in Suzhou's Wujiang District bordering Shanghai, laid out as one river with streets on both banks lined with Ming-Qing two-story buildings and adjoining shopfronts.

- Nanjing Presidential Palace (Nanjing Museum of Modern Chinese History) 南京总统府(南京中国近代史遗址博物馆)Site of the Ming Prince of Han’s mansion, the Qing Liangjiang viceroy’s office and the Taiping Heavenly King’s palace; Sun Yat-sen took office here as provisional president in 1912, and it later housed the Nationalist government and presidency. Since 2003 the Nanjing Museum of Modern Chinese History.
- Xuanwu Lake 玄武湖Known as Sangbo before the Six Dynasties, once China’s largest imperial garden lake and the only surviving imperial garden in Jiangnan, ranked with Hangzhou’s West Lake and Jiaxing’s South Lake; it has five islets.
- Meiyuan New Village Memorial Hall 梅园新村纪念馆A memorial to the Communist delegation led by Zhou Enlai that negotiated with the Nationalist government in Nanjing in 1946–1947, comprising the delegation’s office, an archive hall and a bronze statue of Zhou; opened in 1977.
- Nanjing Museum 南京博物院A museum of history and art at the southern foot of Purple Mountain, national first-grade, with over 430,000 items; it grew from the National Central Museum planned in 1933, China’s first large modern museum built by the state.
- Hongshan Forest Zoo 红山森林动物园A zoo in Hongshan Subdistrict, Xuanwu District, covering 68 hectares.
- Nanjing Chaotian Palace 南京朝天宫The largest and best-preserved Ming-Qing official-style architectural complex in Jiangnan; a Taoist temple in the early Ming, it was rebuilt in the Tongzhi era of the Qing as the Jiangning Prefecture Confucian Temple and school, and now houses the Nanjing Museum.
- Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders 侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆A site-based history museum established by the Nanjing municipal government to mourn the victims of the Nanjing Massacre, built at Jiangdongmen, a major killing site and mass burial ground; it opened in 1985 and has since been expanded twice.
- Yuejiang Tower 阅江楼A tower on Lion Hill in northwest Nanjing overlooking the Yangtze, decreed and named by the Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang in 1374; it is famous for Song Lian's essay "Record of Yuejiang Tower", though the tower itself was never completed at the time.
- Qixiashan 栖霞山A famous mountain northeast of Nanjing, also called Sheshan, named after the Southern Dynasties "Qixia Retreat"; praised as "the most graceful mountain of Jinling", its main peak Sanmao rises 286 m, with sights including Qixia Temple, the Thousand Buddha Cliff and the Sarira Pagoda.
- Yuhuatai 雨花台A 60 m hill outside Nanjing's Zhonghua Gate, a Buddhist site in ancient times; legend says the Liang-dynasty monk Yunguang preached here so movingly that flowers fell like rain, hence the name. Listed among Jinling's famous scenes in the Ming and Qing, it served as an execution ground in the Republican era and is now a scenic area.
- Yangshan Stele Quarry 阳山碑材Three gigantic stone blocks quarried in 1405 for a stele at the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, comprising a tortoise base, stele body and head; abandoned on site because they were too large to move, they were recognized in 2005 as the world's largest stele material.
- Niushoushan 牛首山 2016A low mountain in Nanjing's Jiangning District with a 242.9 m main peak, named for its twin summits resembling ox horns; a Buddhist center since the Southern Dynasties and birthplace of the Niutou Chan school, it has Hongjue Temple with its Tang-dynasty pagoda, and the tomb of Zheng He on its southern slope.
- Zhenzhuquan 珍珠泉A spring scenic area at the eastern foot of Laoshan in Nanjing's Pukou District, where water rises from rock crevices like strings of pearls and bubbles faster when visitors clap, earning it the name "Guest-Welcoming Spring"; in the Ming and Qing it was known as the finest sightseeing spot north of the Yangtze.
- Jinniu Lake 金牛湖 2016An artificial lake in Nanjing's Luhe District, also called Jinniushan Reservoir, built in 1958; its northern shore bordering Tianchang and Yizheng is the birthplace of the folk song "Jasmine Flower", and it hosted water events of the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics.
- Youzishan 游子山 2015A hilly ridge in Nanjing's Gaochun District with a 187 m main peak; according to Ming and Qing records it was named because Confucius passed over it on his way to the state of Chu in 489 BC.
- Great Bao’en Temple Site Park 大报恩寺遗址公园 2017The site of an ancient temple at Changganli on the Qinhuai River outside Nanjing's Zhonghua Gate, originally the Southern Dynasties Changgan Temple, famed for its glazed pagoda built in the Yongle to Xuande years of the Ming.
- Tianshengqiao 天生桥A natural-looking stone bridge over the Yanzhi River in Lishui, formed when the canal was cut in the early Ming by leaving a slab of bedrock in place and boring a channel beneath it for boats; 34 m long and 36 m above the water, it is one of Jinling's New Forty-Eight Scenes.
- Mochou Lake 莫愁湖A freshwater lake in southwest Nanjing, anciently called Hengtang and also Shicheng Lake; triangular and 0.295 sq km in area, it is the city's second-largest urban lake after Xuanwu Lake.

- Xue Fucheng Former Residence 薛福成故居The residence of Xue Fucheng, a modern thinker, diplomat and leading reformist, and his family; also known as the "Imperial Envoy's Mansion".
- Li Garden 蠡园A garden on the north shore of Lihu Lake in Wuxi, named after the lake, which in turn takes its name from Fan Li, a Yue minister of the Spring and Autumn period said to have boated here with Xi Shi after helping Yue conquer Wu.
- Chongan Temple 崇安寺Wuxi's oldest temple, famed for its fairs and listed among the "Ten Great Monasteries of Liangxi", once ranked alongside Shanghai's City God Temple, Nanjing's Confucius Temple and Suzhou's Xuanmiao Temple; destroyed after the 1911 Revolution, its site became a public garden, around which Wuxi's commercial center formed and remains.
- Meiyuan Hengshan Scenic Area 梅园横山风景区A plum-blossom garden in Wuxi's Binhu District, created after industrialist Rong Desheng bought the site in 1912 and planted 3,000 plum trees; now with over 500 varieties, it ranks with Suzhou's Dengwei Hill and Hangzhou's Chaoshan as the three great plum-viewing sites of Jiangnan.
- Donglin Academy 东林书院Also called Guishan Academy, founded in the Song and rebuilt in the late Ming; its Ming-era scholars were known for debating state affairs and became known as the Donglin faction, with major influence on the politics of the day.
- Wuxi Museum 无锡博物院Wuxi's municipal museum, a national first-grade museum and one of China's eight major painting collections, formed by merging the former Wuxi Museum, Revolutionary Exhibition Hall and Science Hall; its 71,000 sq m building follows a "water, light, stone and color" design concept.
- Wuxi Zoo and Taihu Happy Land 无锡市动物园•太湖欢乐园A zoo built against Huishan hill in Wuxi's Binhu District, covering 520,000 sq m and opened in September 2010.
- Nanchan Temple 南禅寺An ancient temple near Wuxi's south gate, one of the "four hundred and eighty temples of the Southern Dynasties", beside the old canal and adjoining the Qingming Bridge historic district, part of the Grand Canal World Heritage site.
- Qingming Bridge Ancient Canal 清名桥古运河A historic district on the Grand Canal in Wuxi, made up of temples, pagodas, waterways, streets, bridges, kilns and workshops and dubbed the "water lane of Jiangnan"; its landmark is the Ming-dynasty Qingming Bridge, and it was inscribed as part of the Grand Canal World Heritage site in 2014.
- Dangkou Ancient Town 荡口古镇An old town at Dangkou in Wuxi's Ehu Town, centered on the Hua family building complex, a Jiangsu provincial protected cultural site.
- Helü City Site Museum 阖闾城遗址博物馆A museum presenting the Helü City site, which spans Changzhou's Wujin District and Wuxi's Binhu District and is believed to be Helü City, the capital of the State of Wu in the Spring and Autumn period.
- Binjiang Fortress Tourism Area 滨江要塞旅游区A series of gun batteries on Xiaoshan, Huangshan and Changshan hills along the south bank of the Yangtze at Jiangyin, built and strengthened from the early Qing through the Republican era; the Huangshan battery is the most important, facing Gushan in Jingjiang across the river.
- Shanjuan Scenic Area 善卷风景区A karst cave on Luoyan Hill in Zhangzhu, Yixing; legend holds that when Emperor Shun offered the throne to his teacher Shan Juan, Shan refused and retired to this cave, hence the name.
- Tuangui Lake 团氿A lake in Yixing of about 2.6 sq km, added to Jiangsu's list of protected lakes in 2005.
- Zhanggong Cave 张公洞A limestone cave on Yufeng Hill in Yixing, named for the legend that Zhang Daoling and Zhang Guolao practiced in seclusion here; about 1,000 m long with upper and lower sections and caves within caves, its Sea King Hall was a location for CCTV's "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer".
- Yixing Ceramics Museum 宜兴陶瓷博物馆A museum of ceramics at the foot of Xianhe Hill in Dingshu, Yixing, also known as the China Zisha Museum; built against the hillside, it has over 20,000 sq m of floor space.

- Tieshansi National Forest Park 铁山寺国家森林公园A forest park in southern Xuyi County, where low hills surround the 9 sq km Tianquan Lake; its vegetation marks the transition from warm-temperate to subtropical, and it hosts the Xuyi station of the Purple Mountain Observatory and the rebuilt Tieshan Chan Temple.
- Xuyi Diyishan Scenic Area 盱眙县第一山景区The First Hill inscriptions in Xuyi County, a national key cultural relic; listed as a provincial protected site in 1982 and raised to national level in 2013.
- Ming Zuling Mausoleum 明祖陵A cenotaph built by Zhu Yuanzhang in 1385 for his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather and the actual burial place of his grandfather, on Hongze Lake in Xuyi County; submerged in the Kangxi era, it re-emerged at low water in 1966, and its spirit-way sculptures survive.
- Baima Lake Ecological Tourism Scenic Area 白马湖生态旅游景区A shallow lake in the river-network plain of the lower Huai, straddling Huai'an and Yangzhou and one of Jiangsu's ten largest lakes; it lies on the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Diversion, is Huai'an's second-largest drinking-water source and is listed as a Wetland of International Importance.

- Dongguan History and Culture Tourism Area 东关历史文化旅游区A 1,122 m east-west old street in Yangzhou's Guangling District, once linking the old city's Great East Gate to the new city's Dongguan; it retains time-honored shops such as Simei Sauce Garden and Xie Fuchun, and historic sites including Ge Garden and Yipu.
- Hanling Garden 汉陵苑 2017A museum displaying the Tianshan Han Tomb, also called the Yangzhou Museum of the Han Guangling King's Tomb; the tomb of Liu Xu, Prince Li of Guangling in the Western Han, built in the "huangchang ticou" style, was excavated from 1979 and relocated in its entirety to Yangzhou's northeastern outskirts.
- Yucheng Post Station 盂城驿 2015A post station beside the Grand Canal in Gaoyou, built in 1375 and the largest on the canal in the Ming and Qing; at its height it had over a hundred rooms and 65 post horses. It is a national key cultural relic and part of the Grand Canal World Heritage site.
- Shaobo Ancient Town 邵伯古镇A water town on the canal in northern Jiangdu District, Yangzhou, named after the Shaobo Dike built by Xie An in 385; an important canal trading port from the Tang and Song onward, with an inspectorate established in the Ming and Qing.

- Haishang Yuntaishan Scenic Area 海上云台山景区A mountain system in Lianyungang on Haizhou Bay, a branch of the Yimeng range; its main peak Yunü rises 625.3 m, among the highest in Jiangsu. Comprising Jinping Hill and South, Middle and North Yuntai, it was designated a national scenic area in 1988.
- Qinshandao 秦山岛A narrow island off Ganyu District, Lianyungang, with east, middle and west peaks and over twenty sights including the Li Si Stele, Xu Fu Well, Tianfei Temple and old gun batteries, the most striking being the 10 m-plus Qin East Gate.

- Changzhou Tianning Temple 常州天宁寺A Chan Buddhist temple outside Changzhou's east gate, founded in the Zhenguan–Yonghui years of the Tang (627–655); it is a Jiangsu provincial protected cultural site and one of Changzhou's main attractions.
- Hongmei Park 红梅公园A park in Changzhou's Tianning District near Tianning Temple, begun in 1958 and opened in 1960, named after the historic Red Plum Pavilion within it.

- New Fourth Army Jiangnan Command Memorial Hall 新四军江南指挥部纪念馆 2015The former Li clan ancestral hall in Shuixi Village, Zhuze, Liyang, where in November 1939 the New Fourth Army's Jiangnan Command was founded to lead resistance in the Maoshan and southern Jiangsu areas, with Chen Yi as commander and Su Yu as deputy.

- Zhenjiang Nanshan Scenic Area 镇江市南山风景区The collective name for Zhenjiang's Zhaoyin, Huanghe, Jia and Jiuhua hills, known as the "urban mountain forest"; the highest, Jiuhua, rises 185 m, and the 15.58 sq km scenic area is divided into the Bamboo Grove, Zhaoyin and Wenyuan sections.
- Xijindu Historic and Cultural District 西津渡历史文化街区An old street on Yuntai Hill in Zhenjiang at a ferry crossing called Suanshan in the Three Kingdoms and Xijin from the Song; under 500 m long, it preserves its character from the Tang through the Qing and was listed in 2006 as a national key cultural relic under the Grand Canal.
