About

The Wangwu–Yuntai scenic area, 110 km², lies in Jiyuan and Xiuwu County in northern Henan.

Mount Yuntai’s main peak, Zhuyu, is 1,300 m; its sights are the deep Red Stone Gorge and a waterfall with a drop of 310 m.

Mount Wangwu is famous from the fable of the Foolish Old Man who moved the mountains. It has the Queen Mother’s Cave, first of the Taoist “grotto heavens”, Tiantan Peak where the Yellow Emperor sacrificed to Heaven, the Yangtai Palace, a huge gingko tree and a rare stele in Mongolian script.
