Changsha Window of the World 长沙世界之窗
A large cultural theme park in Xingsha north of Changsha, covering 40 hectares and opened in 1997, the largest tourism, film and entertainment complex in Hunan. It followed Beijing World Park and Shenzhen Window of the World as a park of landmark replicas from around the globe.
Changsha Underwater World 长沙海底世界
A marine theme park in Changsha combining exhibits, rides, science education and leisure. It is a national 4A tourist attraction.
Hunan Provincial Museum 湖南省博物馆
Hunan's largest museum of history and culture, formally established in 1956. Since 1974 it has displayed the finds from the Mawangdui Han tombs of Changsha. Named among the first national first-grade museums in 2008, it holds more than 180,000 objects.
Tianxin Pavilion 天心阁
Originally called Tianxing Pavilion, a historic tower in the south of Changsha's old city, integrated with the city wall and Tianxin Park. It is one of Changsha's major ancient buildings.

Dawei Mountain National Forest Park 大围山国家森林公园
A national forest park centered on Dawei Mountain on the Hunan–Jiangxi border. Its encircling ridges span the four counties of Liuyang, Tonggu, Wanzai and Pingjiang, hence the name 'great enclosure'; on the Jiangxi side it is also called Dawei (Wei) Mountain.
Yang Kaihui Memorial Hall 杨开慧纪念馆
A memorial complex in Kaihui Town, Changsha County, comprising Yang Kaihui's former residence, her martyrs' cemetery, an exhibition hall on her life and the Yang Family Temple. Covering about 8 hectares and open since 1966, it is a national 4A tourist attraction and a national patriotic education base.
Cangfang Tourism Area (Hu Yaobang's Former Residence) 苍坊旅游区（胡耀邦故居）
A tourism area centered on the former residence of Hu Yaobang, General Secretary of the Communist Party in the 1980s. The house, on the Minxi River in Cangfang Village, Zhonghe Town, Liuyang, was built in the Xianfeng era of the Qing and has 19 rooms over 450 square meters.
Jinggang Ancient Town Scenic Area 靖港古镇景区
An old town on the west bank of the lower Xiang River in Wangcheng District, about 30 kilometers from central Changsha on the southern edge of the Dongting Lake basin. It was named among China's top 100 cultural towns in 2023.
Changsha Ecological Zoo 长沙生态动物园
Opened in 2010 after the old Changsha Zoo relocated from Martyrs' Park, covering nearly 100 hectares with seven zones including walking and drive-through areas. It exhibits over 4,000 animals of more than 350 species and is the only institution in Hunan licensed to keep first- and second-class protected wildlife.
Hunan Forest Botanical Garden 湖南省森林植物园
Now called the Hunan Botanical Garden, a 120-hectare public garden in Yuhua District in southern Changsha, combining research, species conservation, science education and ecotourism.
Weishan Miyin Scenic Area 沩山密印景区
A scenic area centered on Miyin Temple on Pilu Peak of Wei Mountain, Ningxiang. Founded in 807 by Pei Xiu, prefect of Tanzhou, with the Chan master Lingyou as its first abbot, it is honored as the ancestral seat of the Weiyang school of Chan Buddhism.
Yanghu National Wetland Park 洋湖国家湿地公园
A public wetland park in Yuelu District covering 0.53 square kilometers, established in 2010 and opened in 2011.
Heimifeng Forest Park 黑麋峰森林公园
A forest park in the northeast corner of Wangcheng District, whose 590.5-meter main peak is the district's highest. Covering 4,079 hectares with 83 percent forest cover, it has long been called a 'blessed grotto-heaven'.
Qianlong Lake Eco-tourism Area 千龙湖生态旅游区
A wetland park and ecotourism resort in Getang Town, Wangcheng District, opened in 2004 with a planned area of 9.2 square kilometers. It is a national wetland park and national water-conservancy scenic area, and has hosted the Qianlong Lake International Dragon Boat Invitational.
Liuyang Autumn Harvest Uprising Memorial Park 浏阳秋收起义纪念园
A memorial park centered on the site where the Autumn Harvest Uprising forces assembled at Wenjiashi. The site, at the west end of Wenjiashi Town in Liuyang, was the Republican-era Liren School; restored, it covers more than 5,000 square meters.
Xinhualian Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town Scenic Area 新华联铜官窑古镇景区
Also called Tongguan Kiln Guofeng Park, a theme park on the Maritime Silk Road, the Tongguan kilns and Hunan culture, next to the Changsha Tongguan Kiln site. Covering 200 hectares with eight themed streets and eight museums, it includes Tongguan Old Street, which dates from the Tang. It is a national 4A tourist attraction and national tourism resort.
Changsha Riverside Cultural Park 长沙滨江文化园
A cultural park on the Beichen delta where the Liuyang River meets the Xiang, on the former site of a chemical plant. It houses the Changsha Museum, the city planning exhibition hall, the library and the concert hall, known together as 'three halls and one hall'. It is a national 4A tourist attraction.
Tongguan Kiln National Archaeological Site Park 铜官窑国家考古遗址公园
A site park built on the Changsha Tongguan Kiln site, opened in 2012. The kilns were a southern folk kiln of the Tang and Five Dynasties whose underglaze-painted wares are regarded as the origin of underglaze decoration. The site was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 1988.

Site of the Japanese Surrender Negotiations in Zhijiang 抗日胜利芷江洽降旧址
The place in Qiliqiao Village, Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, where Japanese surrender negotiations were held on 21 August 1945. It includes the Surrender Memorial Arch, the China Theater surrender site and the Memorial Hall of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance.
Qianyang Ancient City 黔阳古城
An old town in Hongjiang at the confluence of the Wu and Yuan rivers, surrounded by water on three sides and backed by hills. Its historic building complex was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2013, and the town is a national 4A tourist attraction.
Hongjiang Ancient Commercial City 洪江古商城
An old town at the confluence of the Wu and Yuan rivers that served in the Ming and Qing as the main transshipment hub for goods from southwestern Hunan and eastern Guizhou. More than 380 historic buildings survive, from temples and banks to shops and workshops, dating from the Ming to the Republic. It was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2006.
Wanfo Mountain 万佛山
A Danxia-landform peak of 635 meters in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, designated together with nearby Dong villages as the Wanfoshan–Dong Villages National Scenic Area at the end of 2009.
Yutou Ancient Dong Village 芋头古侗寨
A Dong village in Shuangjiang Town, Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, founded in the Hongwu era of the Ming and rebuilt after a fire in the early Qing. Its historic buildings include four drum towers, three wind-and-rain bridges and 78 stilted houses. It was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2001.

The old campus of Anjiang Agricultural School at Shengjue Temple in Anjiang Town, Hongjiang, converted into a memorial park after the school relocated.
Gaoyi Ancient Village 高椅古村 2024
An ancient Dong village in Huitong County, enclosed by hills on three sides and water on the fourth, whose residents are mostly descendants of Yang Zaisi. It preserves 104 dwellings built between 1380 and 1881, and was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2006 and a Chinese historical and cultural village in 2007.
Eryou Mountain 二酉山 2024
The collective name for Dayou and Xiaoyou mountains in Yuanling County. The Yellow Emperor is said to have stored books here, and during the Qin book-burning the scholar Fu Sheng hid five cartloads of banned texts in a mountain cave; Sima Qian's phrase 'hidden in a famous mountain' refers to this place.

Jiuyi Mountain Emperor Shun's Mausoleum 九嶷山舜帝陵
The legendary tomb of Emperor Shun in the Jiuyi Mountains of Ningyuan County, one of only two such mausoleums in China. A temple stands before the tomb, and a stele pavilion holds the inscription 'Tomb of Emperor Shun of Youyu'. The Shun sacrificial rites were listed as national intangible cultural heritage in 2011.
Yangming Mountain 阳明山
A national forest park in Shuangpai County, established in 1992 and covering 11,733 hectares.
Goulan Yao Village 勾蓝瑶寨
A traditional Yao village in Lanxi Yao Township, Jiangyong County, founded in the Ming and covering about 6 square kilometers. It retains a defensive system of stone walls, watch houses and gatehouses, plus 30 structures including ancestral halls, an academy and wind-and-rain bridges. It was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2019.

A mountain area at the southern tip of Yizhang County on the Hunan–Guangdong border, named for its vast forests and pythons. The largest primeval forest at its latitude in the world, it holds a national forest park and national nature reserve and is a national 4A tourist attraction.

A Ming–Qing village complex in Gaotingsi Town, Yongxing County, first built in 1358. Twenty-nine historic buildings survive, including the Upper Village ancestral hall of 1443. It was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2019.

An old town in Yongshun County, formerly Wangcun, once the seat of Youyang County in the Western Han and one of the four famous towns of western Hunan. Renamed in 2007 after the film 'Hibiscus Town' was shot here, it is a national historical and cultural town and 4A tourist attraction.

A Ming–Qing old-town building complex in Pushi Town, Luxi County, listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2019.
Laosicheng Site 老司城遗址
A tusi (native chieftain) site in Lingxi Town, Yongshun County, founded in the Southern Song and for centuries the seat of the Peng family chieftains of Yongshun until the Yongzheng-era reforms of the Qing. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2015 as part of the Tusi Sites.

Shigu Academy 石鼓书院
An academy on Shigu Hill north of Hengyang, where the Zheng, Xiang and Lei rivers meet. Founded in 810 in the Tang dynasty and ranked first among the four great academies of the Song, it was destroyed by Japanese bombing in 1939 and rebuilt in 2006 on its Qing-dynasty plan.
Wang Chuanshan's Hometown Ecological and Cultural Tourism Area 王船山故里生态文化旅游区
A tourism area centered on the former residence of Wang Chuanshan (Wang Fuzhi), the late Ming–early Qing philosopher. Also called Xiangxi Cottage, the house in Qulan Town, Hengyang County, was built in 1675 and was his retreat in old age.
Xia Minghan's Hometown Scenic Area 夏明翰故里景区
A scenic area centered on the former residence of Xia Minghan in Lizi Village, Hongshi Town, Hengyang County. Built in the Qianlong era of the Qing and opened after restoration in 2005, it is a national patriotic education base.

A hill of 96.8 meters covering 6.32 hectares, the first of the 72 peaks of Nanyue (Mount Heng) and hence called 'the first peak of Nanyue'. It is a municipal protected cultural site and a national 4A tourist area.

Yellow Dragon Cave 黄龙洞
A karst cave in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, covering 100,000 square meters with 7.5 kilometers of passages on two dry and two water levels. Famed for its lofty chambers, underground river and dense stalagmites, its emblem is the 20-meter column 'Sea-Calming Needle'. Experts have called it the 'all-round champion' of China's caves.

Pingjiang Uprising Memorial Hall 平江起义纪念馆
A memorial hall in Pingjiang County to the Pingjiang Uprising, comprising the uprising site at Tianyue Academy, a square with a bronze statue of Peng Dehuai, and an exhibition hall. Chen Yun inscribed its name in 1982, and the new hall opened in 2008.
Zhang Guying Village 张谷英村
An ancient village below Bijia Mountain east of Yueyang, begun in the Jiajing era of the Ming and the best-preserved complex of traditional Jiangnan dwellings in China, with 62 lanes, 206 courtyards and 1,732 rooms. It was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2001 and a Chinese historical and cultural village in 2003.
Tianyue Mufu Mountain 天岳幕阜山
A mountain at the junction of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi, whose 1,597.2-meter main peak lies in Nanjiang Town, Pingjiang County. Anciently called Tianyue, it was renamed after the Three Kingdoms general Taishi Ci camped on its summit. Now a forest park with 48 noted sights, its cave ranks 25th among the 36 Taoist grotto-heavens.

Terraced fields in Shuiche and Fengjia towns, Xinhua County, cultivated for more than two thousand years and covering over 5,300 hectares. They form a national scenic area and 4A tourist attraction.

The old site of Dongshan Academy at the foot of Dongtai Mountain in Xiangxiang, the surviving buildings of the former Dongshan College, now part of Dongshan School.
Maohu Water Town Resort 茅浒水乡度假村
A resort on Dongshan Lake in the eastern suburbs of Xiangxiang, offering lake scenery, eco-farm tourism, the Dongshan red tourism area tracing Mao Zedong's early years, and Zeng Guofan's naval camp. It was rated a national 3A tourist attraction in 2008.
Zhaoshan 昭山
A 185-meter hill on the Xiang River at the border of Xiangtan and Changsha. King Zhao of Zhou is said to have drowned in Zhao Pool at its foot, and the Song painter Mi Fu depicted it in 'Mountain Market, Clearing Mist', one of the Eight Views of Xiaoxiang. Zhaoshan Temple on the summit dates from the Tang.

Cai E's Hometown 蔡锷故里
A scenic area centered on the former residence of General Cai E, who was born here in 1882 and spent his childhood in the house in Cai'e Township, Daxiang District, Shaoyang. The residence was listed as a national key protected cultural site in 2006, and the scenic area was upgraded to a national 4A attraction in 2021.
Former Site of the Tangtian Wartime Lecture Academy 塘田战时讲学院旧址 2023
A late-Qing building complex in Duihe Village, Tangtianshi, Shaoyang County, originally the villa of Xi Baotian. In 1938 Lü Zhenyu, sent by Xu Teli, founded the Tangtian Wartime Lecture Academy here; it was shut down by the KMT in 1939. Sixteen buildings survive.
