About
Baligou lies in the northwest of Huixian, Xinxiang, Henan, in the southern Taihang Mountains next to Shanxi, and became a national AAAAA attraction in 2020. It has three parts: Tianjie Mountain, Baligou and Jiulian Mountain.
Tianjie Mountain is the highlight, with plank paths built onto the cliffs. In the Baligou part a path follows the gorge to the waterfall at its head (the Tianhe Waterfall), more than 100 m high, fullest in summer and frozen in winter.
Travel tips
Tickets and getting around: one ticket covers all three parts (Tianjie Mountain, Baligou and Jiulian Mountain); inside the main gate shuttle buses go to each part.
Season: the waterfall is fullest in summer; red leaves in autumn and an ice fall in winter.
Nearby: Wanxian Mountain (Guoliang Village), also in Huixian, is known for Taihang cliffs and its road tunnelled through the cliff.
