About

Wangmang Ridge lies in the east of Lingchuan County, Jincheng, Shanxi, on the escarpment of the southern Taihang Mountains along the border with Henan. It has many peaks, rising to over 1,700 m. It is said to be named after Wang Mang, who camped here while pursuing Liu Xiu at the end of the Western Han.

It is known for its sea of clouds, sunrises and sheer cliffs. Nearby, the Xiyagou cliff road was cut into the rock face by the villagers, beginning in 1962 and taking about 30 years; it is 7.5 km long.

Travel tips
