About
Baquan Gorge (“Eight Springs Gorge”) in Huguan County, Changzhi, Shanxi, is a section of the Taihang Grand Canyon, named after eight springs that emerge together. It became a national AAAAA attraction in 2020 as the Huguan Taihang Grand Canyon Baquan Gorge Scenic Area.
A lake fills part of the gorge and can be toured by boat; there are also cliff plank paths, a sightseeing lift and a cable car. Hongdou Gorge and Qinglong Gorge are other parts of the same canyon.
Travel tips
Getting there: about 1.5 hours by car from Changzhi; or take the high-speed train to Changzhi East and a tourist shuttle bus.
